     PRAYER FOR AUSTRALIA

Lord, You place deep in our hearts the love of Mary, Help of Christians.  Through Her prayers grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our citizens.  Under Her protection may Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace.  Guard this land of the Southern Cross from threats to undermine the dignity of marriage.

On the Importance of Spiritual Reading

Spiritual reading, as the name suggests to us, is reading undertaken with the aim of the development and growth of our spiritual life in Christ.  As our physical and natural lives are subject to the laws of growth and development so too are our spiritual lives.  By spiritual lives we mean here our knowledge and love of God.

AD MAIOREM DEI GLORIAM  (For the Greater Glory of God)  (AMDG)
2 FEBRUARY, 2014  FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD

At the beginning of each New Year, after my mid-twenties conversion, I would look forward to reading Fr Gobbi’s letter to the faithful of Our Lady’s Marian Movement of Priests.  His words beautifully reflected Mother Mary’s message of hope amidst our time of great apostasy, joy amidst our time of great despair and enlightenment amidst our great confusion and rebellion.  His annual message would always be faithfully punctuated with powerful quotes from Our Lady’s Blue Book.

The Rosary and the Brown Scapular:

In the year of Our Lord 1215, it is believed that St Dominic made the following prophecy to St Angelus of Sicily, a famous hermit of the Carmelite Order: “To my order the Blessed Virgin has entrusted a devotion known as the Rosary and to your order, Angelus, she will entrust a devotion to be known as the Brown Scapular.  One day through the Rosary and the Brown Scapular, she will save the world.”

VATICAN:  100,000 ATTEND SYRIA PEACE VIGIL

Tens of thousands of people filled St. Peter's Square for a four-hour Syria peace vigil late Saturday, answering Pope Francis' call for a grassroots cry for peace that was echoed by Christians and non-Christians alike in Syria and in vigils around the world.

An estimated 100,000 took part in the Rome event, making it one of the largest rallies in the West against proposed US led military action against the Syrian regime following the August 21st chemical weapons attack near Damascus.
